Maurice Miller

Documentary Photographer of the 20th Century

Maurice Miller came from San Francisco and served with the 84th Infantry Division, the  Railsplitters,  from 1942 to 1946. Attached to the 309th Engineers, Mr. Miller also worked with the Division Historical Section as a combat photographer. A mobile darkroom was used much of the time. Many of his photos taken of the 84th Division during WWII- from Generals to rank and file, or aerial reconnaisance behind enemy lines- were used in the Railsplitter publication, in the Battle of Germany book by Theodore Draper, for Stars and Stripes, and used for the Signal Corps.
